MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Lead additive anyone using it?
I resently got a midget 1275 engine unsiezed and have it running pretty good considering it hadnt run since the 1970s. Ive been lucky so far.I was wondering if anyone out there is running lead additive in the fuel. Im still shoe string budgeting this car right now and since its running dont want to spend the money to convert it to no lead at the moment. (probably do it later down the road.) Ive had stock mgb engines that fried valves out of them after 2500 miles after highway use but I never added the Lead additive. Anyone have experience they can share with this? |

Hi Steven Good chance the seats are impregnated with lead compounds and may well protect themselves. Time will tell. Peter |

never used it, never will. had no problems yet. i cannot see why you need to have a perfectly good head machined when it is not necessary.if its a problem miles and miles down the road then spend the money to have it done. bob. |

Thanks Peter, and bob. I posted this first and then looked in the archives... I saw your thoughts on this pete. Just run until trouble shows up and then unlead it, sounds like good advice. |
