MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Loom diagram
Is there such a thing as a loom diagram (I have the wiring diagram)? I want to improve the earth on my rear indicators (59 Frogeye) and the earth connection goes into the loom as does the live feed. How do I locate where it is earthed? |

I seem to remember that Nick Cherry Scoop did a wonderful drawing of his Mk11 sprite's wiring loom fully labelled. As usual, it was a work of art. Perhaps we can tempt him to post it here. |

If someone else hasn't made a loom drawing, you can still find the ground point yourself in a few minutes by just following along the loom until you see the next time that color of wire comes out (ground = black). The nice thing with these cars is you can see everything, and what you can't see (up around the RH wheel well, down along the RH floor, until you come up the A pillar) hasn't got any connectors in it. there might be a ground point in the boot, the later model cars have one that is earthed right at the center line of the rear panel, for the number plate light, reversing light and side lights. The next ground point is where the harness passes through the bulkhead into the engine room. The indicators don't use a ground wire though, on any year, they earth through the housing. In fact, looking at the bugeye wiring diagram, there are only 4 pieces of black wire on the whole car: the headlights, the horn, the wiper motor and the IP lights. No black wire at all in the boot, that I can see. Norm |

Norm, Thanks I guess I was just being lazy and will investigate. I just thought someone may have it. But the rear indicators definitely do not earth themselves, the earth wire retuns to the loom - at least on my loom it does! |
