MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Lower wishbone trunnion bush dimensions
Years ago I was speaking to a guy that mentioned that he had converted a number of midget wishbones to use the Triumph Spitfire trunnion bush kit so that the parts were replaceable so I recently bought a kit off ebay to have a look and see what it might entail. The tophat bushes are 3/4"OD 9/16"ID, the tophat flange is 1.1" OD, so the bore is the same as the midget kingpin bore. I was wondering if someone had a standard wishbone around and could measure the length and OD of the 2 brazed in bushes to see what the size difference is to these tophat bushes and maybe the larger trunnion thread diameter, the smaller being 9/16" IIRC to pass through the bottom of the kingpin. |

Overall width (front of front bush to rear of rear bush)3.45" large bush OD 13/16" small bush OD 3/4" both bushes 1.25" long small thread 9/16" large thread 0.65" I haven't got a thread gauge handy, but counting teeth etc pitch calcualtes at 15.7 so I gues it's 16tpi, which would make the 9/16 BSF. |
