MG Midget and Sprite Technical - LSD options
Has anyone any experience of the Evolution diffs minispares sell? They seem very cheap. Im about to buy a tranx or 3J and the cheapest ive found them is £600. Very impressed with the tranx in my 205gti, but the evo diff is £480 so its quite appealing... |

Looks very similar to the Tran-X LSD? MS offer 3 setups for their LSD and the 'road' ramp angle of 55° is very gentle on a rear wheel drive car, especially with a live rear axle. On RH corners the rear axle tries to lift under drive torque, and on tight corners has very little traction to make the LSD work. We have a Tran-X LSD fitted to our 1380 Minor and set up with the 45°/90° ramp angle settings. It works extremely well, but still on a tight RH corner you can feel the LSD struggling to work. In a midget I would certainly want the 45°/90° setup for Tran-X, or even 40°/90° with the 3J unit. Richard |
