MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Maniflow Header
I wonder if anyone with a Maniflow header would be kind enough to post a photo for me? We have an LCB (unknown make, bought and fitted many years ago, but still in great shape - wasn't on the car very long before car came off the road!), which we tried to put on. However, during the course of bodywork repairs, the triangular web was replaced and the LCB fits a bit too tight to the web. We've bent up the flange, but still too tight. Really don't want to do any more mods to the bodywork. So thought about a Maniflow LCB. Heard nothing but good things about them, but would like to know how it fits as it goes through the chassis. Pictures of the maniflow show that the centre branch and the 2-1 branch go down parallel to the engine block, and then go to 90 degrees to the block as they bend and go through the chassis. I'd like an in situ photo that shows just when the two branches start to go back to 90 degrees. If anyone can help I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks. |

Thanks Prop. I took a look! I need a photo or a measurement of the widest part as it goes through the chassis, of outside diameter of both branches plus the gap between the two. Appreciate you looking though! |

I don't have a photo but my maniflow fits through the chasis in tandem (front and back) rather than side by side, so the total width equals the width of the pipe, in my case 1 3/4 inch I think |

G Lazarus, thanks for that, that's exactly what I was hoping! In fact I emailed Maniflow direct this morning with my query, and am very surprised and impressed to have just heard back - very quickly, and on a Sunday at that. David confirmed my hopes that his Maniflow header was designed to fit the car with no body modifications, so I'll be ordering one from him pretty quickly. Especially as the price, including shipping to the US, still works out cheaper than any US supplier I've found! I'm really quite psyched about it. I really wanted to put a Maniflow LCB on the car, as we've done a ton of work on the engine rebuild, and it would have been a real shame to put a "less than the best" header on!! I've only heard about positive performance improvements with this manifold! I'll make sure to post a review on the installation as soon as I can. Thanks Tricia |

I need to dig deep and buy myself a replacement one. My current Maniflow has rusted through where the 2 pipes join at the bottom. But it is about 9 years / 70,000 miles old so Its probably what one should expect! |

So, I ordered the Maniflow header from Maniflow UK on Sunday evening, and it arrived this morning (Friday) in the USA. I just got home at 1.30pm, and had it test fitted by 1.35 - and 4.30 minutes of that were spent taking off the wrapping!!! Not much of a review, I'm afraid - it was too easy!! I held it in position above the car at it's correct orientation, tilted the head towards the heater area (heater box not yet fitted), dropped the tail down the chassis opening, straightened it up and put it on the studs - don't think it even took 30 seconds!! Plenty of room either side as it goes through the chassis opening. Admittedly, we had already bent up the flange on the triangle when we were trying to fit our original LCB, but even so, it still would have fitted! The welds look good and strong, and very tidy. It looks to be excellent quality. I just called Mike at work to tell him, and I think he's a bit miffed that I fitted it myself without waiting for him! Never mind, I'll let him fit the rest of the exhaust this weekend!! I'd heartily recommend Maniflow UK for customer service, quality of product, speed of shipping, and pricing!! Hopefully, it works as good as it looks! |

I went from unknown LCB to Maniflow LCB big improvement, better pick up through the rev range, better pull top end - balance with air filters and carbs set up and you wont be dissappointed |

What air filters do you use Nigel? |

I use K&N pancake because they came with the car and I like K&N but would prefer the deeper plated type but they are so expensive now I added in the cheap MGOC Spares stub stacks because I like the added sound and had a slight change to the carb needles the thing that helps the most top end I think on mine is the 1-2-3 fully electronic dissy, replacing the old dissy body and mech (which also had an Aldon igniter head) really made an improvement I felt you get a new rotor and dissy cap obviously with the 1-2-3 so that left HT lead set, as I got a silicone set free with the dissy I used these but recently I swapped to a set from performanceleads and was very impressed with these - http://www.performanceleads.co.uk/ obviously changing from old items to new will probably give improvements but I feel the improvements were greater than just this and my car has measured improvements to back up my feelings, not that it matters to me because I think figures can be useful but it's all about how a car feels to you that matters, if you're used to your car you can tell if something is better and when it's much better |
