MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Maniflow single box - how low?

Just dry fitting my manifold and exhaust (single box left exit) and it looks a bit low to me. I've used the stock rubber mounts. Does this look right? Looks a bit low to me. Speed bumps here are brutal :-) if anyone has one can you post a photo please?

hi there
I have a maniflow 4 branch with single box.
excellent fit and well made
I made up brackets as my 1500 has lowered springs and the top of the tailpipe is about 2 inches below the bumper, about 1/2 half inch below the rear valance. the box is infront of the valance not below it. Bit fiddly round the spring hangers but no knocking on bumpy roads.
The whole thing is low but I have maybe been lucky and not had speed bump probs. Sorry cant do photos.

I have to agree... can you pipe over the Diff instead of under.

Hi Tony, thanks for that, sounds like I need to bend some new brackets then! I'm in Essex by m25 j30.
Out of curiosity how loud is yours compared to the stock system?
S Watts

hi re noise
I was advised by mr maniflow it would be noisier than the stock or straight thru twin box, however it not too bad and is a very crisp note. Even swmbo approves

Hi

A slightly misleading image because the front end is up on jacks while I work on the front suspension.

I fitted a Maniflow straight through box and main pipe last year. I don't know what make the LCB manifold is as it's unmarked and was fitted when I got the car - it doesn't give the impression of being a top line one though!

I had to spend a long time wriggling and twiddling to get the silencer tucked up as high as I could without it knocking on the tank or suspension but eventually it went using standard mounts, though I think at least one is fitted on the opposite side of a bracket from original. I live down an un-made lane so I need it to be as high as possible, it might be easier if you have more leeway to play with.

It sticks out behind the bumper by about 1 1/4" but I think that is due to the length of the manifold pipe. It doesn't seem to be a problem and, by being further out in the airstream my actually help to prevent the Sprite getting a sooty backside!

With the straight through system it certainly seems more willing and picks up better than with the old 'across the back' system.

I use my Sprite for club hill-climbs where it is noise tested at every meeting. With the old system it clocked 89dB and I usually get 89dB with this system, though once it went up to 92 because I was revving a bit more. Overall it's not really any louder but the exhaust note is lower and more 'meaty' - I like it!

I got mine from Magic midget and can recommend him as I received very good service.
