MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Max rebore 948CC
Hello, I have to rebore my 948 +0,060 to a 998CC + 0,0.... I have read it is not possible to rebore to 998 + 0,060. But do you think it is possible to put 998+0,040 pistons to drop the capacity to 1030cc? I have found a set of very clean 998+0,040 and conrods for a moderate price. Laurent |

Hi Laurent I have never done this myself. Vizard indicates you can go all the way to +60 on 998 Cooper pistons to 1046cc (with 76.2mm stroke). My preference would be to go to +40 to leave one more re-bore as you indicate above. Should make a nice 'under one litre' engine. A |

I wonder if you would be ahead of the game doing a 1098 engine instead Prop |

I am running 1046 at present with 998 pistons and rods. |

Hi Laurent. I will be there on Saturday afternoon / all day Sunday with ten midget & Sprite members, and their cars, as part of our eleven day tour. Another member has a race entry www.sebringsprite.com A friend with a Healey Silverstone is seeking an entry. |
