MG Midget and Sprite Technical - MGF seats in Midget

Has anyone replaced the seats in their midget with seats from an F.
I have used them in the past to replace rotten Triumph Stag seats.

MGF seats do fit in a midget, but they are a very tight fit. you will have to swop over the seats to put the recliner adjuster next to the tunnel. If you search the archives you will find more info from others who have fitted mgf seats.

Yes they do fit. However, you'll need to figure out how you're going to bolt them down. There are several methods but this is what i did...
Cut the rear mounting brackets off the seats then test fit them to figure out where the rear holes would be using the original holes in the floor.
weld a strip of steel between the seat runners and drill out the holes for the rear bolts.
fasten the rear of the seats down then drill through the front mounts of the seat.
Weld seat belt harness bolts / plates under the car for the front mounts.. these things... http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/info_SAB4502.html

bolt the front down with 7/16th UNF bolts. (using the original front mounts on the seats gives a slight backward tilt to the seat base)

One other point, you need to fit them on opposite sides because of the tilt mechanism.

here's a pic of mine, test fitted while i was doing a little bodywork...

Simple answer: YES! They're great, best mod we've done! Do an archive search for: "Fitting MGF Seat?" and select "search for all words".
On that there's a picture or two from Arie which shows what we did well. Basically cut all the extra brackets off the underside of the rails, weld a straight strip across the back and make up a riser for the front. I raised the front about an inch and that feels about right, just as otehrs have suggested. I used 5mm x 20-25mm strip and that feels secure enough.
They look pretty original but I need to get the tonneau cover tweaked to get it to fit nicely. PJM motors will do that for me for about £45.

Go for it!
