MG Midget and Sprite Technical - midget fuel guage dead
Got a 72 midget that starts and runs great. But the fuel gauge always reads empty. Tank is full however. Looking at our manuals I cannot figure out where to start. Just need some clues as to where to look first. The sender under the tank or the fuel gauge behind the dash. Both look impossible to get at so just hoping for a helpful starting point. thanks |

do you have a instrument voltage stabilizer as mine failed and the fuel gauge will not work without it |

Morning, Easy first step is disconnect the green/black wire coming off the tank. Ignition on, introduce an earth to yr wire, gauge should climb slowly to full. That confirms the gaugeand wiring rear to front is good. Your problem is then in the tank snder unit or its not earthed correctly. If not check the + supply at the rear of the gauge itself. The gauge itself rarely fails. Happy fault finding. Regards Steve |
