MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget Joy

Okay, had the midget 6 weeks and I'm starting to feel good about it (again). Took 7 year old son for a little cruise and she ran great, shifted well (all 4 years) and no surprises. Nice little 5 mile cruise, that's what I've been after!! Even "got on it" a bit and that was fun and she has a bit of pep even. Might take it to work tomorrow.......

The highs and lows of owning a Midget. The good will out-weigh the bad.

I drive my 79 1500 100 miles a day. I wouldn't get around any other way. When my car is in the shop, I'm so cranky there's no living with me. Once a month, I replace something that need it after 30 years. She starts every morning, even in 20 degree weather, although it's obvious the warmer weather is more fun. I even take it to the grocery store and fit a weeks worth of groceries for a family of 5 in there-only one gallon of milk though...the great outweighs the bad!

Lynda,
I'm impressed. I drive a little over 50 miles a day and I only take it to work now and again. After a few more things done on the car, I will be driving it more often. The days I drive the Highways, its not the fasted but its nice to drive the car, rather than switch off and drive my other car. I always have the option to take the back roads home which are tree lined, windy and hilly. Great Midget driving.
The times spent in the garage are only part of the fun, but it is all worth it.

Just driven my 1500 to the La Mans Classic in France. It did 1500 miles in a week with me and my wife and a boot full of camping gear. Apart from a loose wire on the back of the ignition key causeing it to cut out once, it ran sweet as a nut the whole time. It only took five minutes to find the fault and stick the wire back on.

If anybody is thinking about going to the La Mans Classic that hasn't been before, I can recommend it. What a fantastic event! Thousands and thousands of classic cars and brilliant racing from the 1920s to the 1970s. Great atmosphere and camaraderie as well.

Anyway, the Midge is back in the garage now for some TLC before coming out again for daily use to the end of the summer. These really are great little cars if they are treated well. Mine is like part of the family.

Ben.
