MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget rear main cap needed
Does anyone have a spare rear main cap for a midget or Marina? I need one for my Maestro block. Thanks Matt |

Matt the main caps are matched to their journal and as such should not be changed without line boring. Although I do know of someone who had a selection of spare caps and found one that suited the lournal they wanted it to marry to. In fact the man contributes here sometimes. |

What Bob said + you could always buy a set of steel main caps (2 or 4 bolt) but you'll still need to have the block line-bored. |

Bob, I do know that they are matched to the engine, I was trying to avoid the £125 for line boring by hoping to find another one that fits. I do have one from my old engine, I am just awaiting a bearing for it to try it in my new block. At the very worst I'll use it and get the engine line bored. sniff |
