MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget seat fitting - ARGH - Update

Hi All
Just a quick update to let you know it took just short of 5 hours to get my seats back in my midget. Those seats are NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER coming out again!
Thanks to all who helped with suggestions and if anyone wants some original swearing & oath combo's - I'm your man!
Cheers

Wow, sorry to hear things got gnarly. I've had my seats out several times, and every time it was pretty much a non-issue. While the rails can be fiddly, I was always able to get things pointed the right direction without too much fuss.

Cheers,

Did a PO weld them in?!
Can't realy imagine why undoing 4 bolts per sidewould take that long...

I agree, hard to believe it gave you quite so much problem. At one time I was removing both seats almost on a weekly basis to remove and dry out the carpets which kept getting soaked! Cannot have been more than 8 to 10 mins a side to refit.

I then fitted MGF seats which made it rather harder so I slit the carpets for easy removal for drying out!

I've had B and Spridget seats take me two or three attempts each before as the loose runner drops out whilst other times it's been first time and no effort

I also had to take out a more difficult seat four or five times with no trouble at all

a lot of it can be Sod's Law when things don't work well they continue to not work well

5 hours does suggest something was wrong though

I bet they didn't take more than a few seconds each seat in the factory!
Guy

yeah but they did get a fair bit of practice and were working with brand new components and probably not lying on their back barely able to reach to put on the inner washers and nuts to have them drop into the gravel and dissappear forever there :)

Tape the runners on so they don't fall off.
Have had my seats out almost weekly lately as I'm redoing the interior.
With the runners taped on ( and tape removed before tightening up the bolts )it just comes down to lining things up and dropping the bolts through the holes.

Carl, do you have a midget in Tokyo !!!!!!!
wow, do you have any pics of yourself out on the streets of Tokyo?
wonder if there are any other midgets in Japan?
best, Dave.

Quite a few. There was a thriving export industry here in the 90's send Midgets to Japan. Removed quite a lot of them from local roads sadly for us.
