MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Midget Seat Replacements

I am wanting to get some new seats for my beloved 974 Midge. Need something with a lot more side support and one I can be comfortable on a longish tour this summer.
I am not so bothered about it being authentic, not my route really, but practical definitely. I would prefer it to have head rests.

I naturally do not want to spend too much but would appreciate it if anybody has any advice on what works.

I have MG TF ones in mine, they are excellent. I've got them mounted straight on the floor and there is quite a lot of space inside. Much better sideways support. I got mine for 150 quid, some have paid less, some more. Mounting is straightforward if you can make some brackets.

Another vote for MGF seats. Mine cost £10 on e-bay for a pair in full leather. (less 12p refunded in coins down the back of the seat)

Another +1 for mgf seats. Hey they even have MG embossed on the head rests!!

Yes, another vote for MGF seats. Bought my half leather seats for £35. Fitted in an afternoon. Recommend a smaller diameter steering wheel as the seat squab is higher and back deeper. I have a roll bar and they push up against it. Mazda MX5 are also good but not had any experience with them. The ones with seperate headrests are the best. If you are feeling flush then Lotus Exige fit very well and are half the weight of MGF.

Best thing I ever did. The car is MUCH faster with MGF seats due to better support.

F/TF seats are sparse over here, as I've only seen one F stateside, and that one is in a museum. But the seats sure look nice! Seems like most seat replacements I've seen use MX-5 units, which work quite well, often incorporating the headrest-mounted stereo speakers as a bonus.

TF seats are smaller than the F ones; mine are half leather half alcantara (oooo). Other Rob is totally right, makes the car a lot quicker :)

Thanks ever so much, I am looking forward to a bit more support and some quicker corners.

My next stop is e-bay......

I have a pair of MGF seats in red that I've done the welding to to convert for a midget. I'm looking to get rid of them as I decided to go back to the standard seats. Just need a couple of holes drilled for the front mounts. Pic attached. let me know if you're interested. Would be looking for around £75 plus postage for the pair.

Being 6'2" it has always been a bit of a squeeze to fit in the Midget. What I need is the thinnest seat which sits virtually on the floor pan. It must also not have a sticky out bottom corner so when it is leaned back it does not lift the squab. I always fancied trying a Kirkey oval racing seat as it ticked all the boxes. Anyone tried one?

Blimey Clive,
You look younger then that. :)

I'm 6'4 and the TF seats straight on the floor work well. They're also as far back as possible due to rotundity of the operator.
