MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Mixture Setting on 1979 Midget
On the Zenith/Stromberg carbs is there a initial starting point for the fuel needle? I understand how to set the mixture, but do not know the bench setting for the needle. Thanks Again Gary |

Nice article, Pete. In my case, when I disassembled my Zenith for a rebuild a few years ago, I noted the approximate position of the needle; that is, I saw that the face of the needle holder - the bit that fits into the bottom of the air piston - stood just proud of the piston. That is, it barely protruded... maybe a couple or three hundredths at best. I adjusted it to a similar position upon reassembly, and it fired right up. I was then able to set the mixture using a gunson's GasTester. Just a reminder; the hex screw at the bottom of the air piston is a coarse adjuster. You set the final mix using the Fine Idle CO screw on the front of the carb. Best of luck, -:G:- |
