MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Moss' Classic Gold Brake Pads

Anyone try these yet? Replaceing the rotors soon so I'll be needing some pads too. Any suggestions? I've been through the archives. Lot of negatives on greenstuff.

Get Mintex pads, if you can get them over there in bigboy land.

What have you heard negative about the green stuff? Everything I've read has been pretty favorable. I've got something in the works right now, perhaps a good deal on discs and pads, will know by Dec 2 when the parts are in. If this deal is as good as it seems I'll post photos and details then.

I have been using the EBC Greenstuff for several years. I am quite happy with them. I understand that the first generation had issues with excessive dusting, but that was a couple years or more ago. Mine are "kind" to the rotors, stop well, and do not have a dust issue.

Good to hear some good stuff on green stuff since they are available from a number of suppliers here. I guess it's just one of those "everything you find on the net is negative" things. Mostly of the bad stuff was dusting, rotor wear and $$$. I've got rostyles so I really don't care about dusting (Thats how pads work right?) Not sure which rotors I'm getting yet. That should probably be a bigger part of the equation anyway right?

I've been happy with my greenstuffs but I will be upgrading to mintex when my grooved disks go in (thanks Darren)

Do the Greenstuff pads have more "bite" than the stock items? Meaning, can you feel the difference in everyday driving?

Yes! If I were going to be vintage racing a Spridget, I would not use Greenstuff, but for road use and autocross, I love my EBC. I would certainly try the Redstuff if I were racing, but I imagine I, too, would wind up with Mintex.

That's the second mintex plug. I had a hard time finding much information on them. I found some on ebay. But not sure I want to wait for the post from England.

I've had my Greenstuff pads smoke considerably in the paddock, but without any sign of fading on the track (vented (9" disks)... this on a midget using sticky tyres and the car's 142bhp to the full (actually was only 136bhp at the time... but was giving it the full beans).

I was able to fade Mintex pads despite Mintex telling me it was impossible to do this on a road car.

I've Hawk HP plus pads on the car at the moment and really like them. They have great initial bite and I haven't got them to fade. They are an American pad available in the UK

The only downsize is they produce a lot of dust.

Hi , iv used mintex and they took longer to warm up ( crap until they'd warmed up ) then greenstuff and i got them to fade as well on the road had none of these issues with greenstuff ,
