MG Midget and Sprite Technical - MX5 engine and gearbox
Hi all, Someone must have been down this road already ? Looking at possibility of changing changing my MK3 midgetcurrenty all original, to a twin cam with 5 speed box. Usual route is a K series and type 9 box but has anyone seen or considered fitting a Mazda MX5 engine and gearbox? They are excellent units and very cheap ar the moment, Any comment would be appreciated. Regards, Beegee |

A gentleman by the name of Bob Chartier here in the US has made that swap with a turbo Miata engine. Here's the link to an article about his car with a lot of details and photographs. http://www.britishv8.org/Other/BobChartier.htm |

I like that and I like Bobs Garage He has got some quality kit in his garage wish I had it. But that said he has made a great job of his car. |

That is some conversion - looks a nicely put together piece of kit. Jeremy |

that's a lot of lunacy for 155 tyres. It's very very nice |

Wonder how much that little lot cost to do? And I like the result of the round wheel arches. Who needs flares? |

Very high standard of work... not 100% sure about the exhaust header design... KTurbo also more work than n/a KSeries conversion: for just a couple of extra pipes (well, exhaust, oil, water...), a modified header, mounting turbo body plus an extra radiator, the extra work seems excessive... A |
