MG Midget and Sprite Technical - new brake light switch
Just received this switch by UPS. It was shipped to me by accident so I called Moss to let them know what happened. Had a nice conversation and they said I could keep it and they would just re-ship to the other customer. So DB, yours is on the way. I take this switch a proof positive example that Moss is working on upgrading the parts we all need. This new replacement part is much better than the ones we had been getting. |

That looks like a reverse light switch |

glad you said that Dave as I thought that but would never be sure some electrical parts are now getting better because they got so bad even thoses that wanted to only buy the lowest price for electrical parts have found it to be a very false economy BUT NOW (and for a while back too) it's rubber, any part or component that has rubber, and there are loads, seems to be of very poor quality I've just dealt with rubber steering rack gaiters and track (tie) rod end boots that lasted less than 6 months of light use, I had a wiper blade with the rubber useless from new, previously 3 different lots of fuel pipes that leaked today one main supplier was honest enough to admit that the gaiter they stock is "not best quality" I think the suppliers are fed up with it but the truth is that still a lot of Spridget owners in particular want low price over quality Spridget owners are prepared to pay a premium forbright shiney bits, 'upgrades', 'improvements' and cosmetics but not the bread and butter stuff |

Dave, I just checked the function with an ohm meter and you are right. Too good to be true and wishful thinking. The part number and label said it is a brake light switch, but it seems not. |

That looks like the brake switch on my MGB. When you checked it with an ohmeter dit it indicate contact when the plunger is out.. If so it is the brake switch. |

Different to the switch on my previously owned 'B' which had a UNF thread. The pitch of thread looks like it is suitable to fit a alloy casting. |

That is indeed a reverse light switch as fitted to a multitude of BL group cars as well as the 1500 midget. Minis, Allegros, Sd1 etc. |
