MG Midget and Sprite Technical - New clutch and brake pipes- cheapest options?

I'm restoring a midget for my daughter and need to fit new clutch and brake lines. In the past I have bought Automec kits. I am considering making my own. Any views on the cheapest methods?
Thanks,
Neil

if it's hardlines you are talking about, a decent brake flaring tool with the correct imperial ends and copper pipe may not be the cheapest way initially, but once you've got the tool, you'll never look back.

The tool is important, spend money once and use it for a lifetime or go cheap and c*ck it up time and again by not having the flaring tool square on the end! This is from personal experience.

when it comes to making the hardline, just take the old off, match the curves to this, and remember to put the brake pipe ends onto the copper tube BEFORE flaring. Sounds simple but easy to get carried away with the flaring.

Ends can be bought here

Pipe from your local auto parts place or online here

Flaring tool is your choice but do some research first!

I make all my own hardlines and it really is simple and cheap with the right tools.

Good luck

I bought a flaring tool from Machine Mart, but took it back as it was carp!

I've since 'inherited' a very nice Sykes Pickavant tool.

If you aren't bent on making your own I got a full brake kit my early 1500 for about £35 from MGB Hive. Made up the clutch line from a bit of flexi and fittings for under £20.

Mo Prod easy flare = best flaring tool I've ever used in my life. I keep searching autojumbles in case I find one.

Neil, I've got an automec kit in the garage somewhere if you are interested?
