MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Optronic Wiring & Wiper Motor Wiring?

Getting the car started is getting tantilisingly close, but I was having a bit of a dense day on Saturday and need a bit if help with a couple of electricals. Should mention here that it's a 1275 RWA that originally had a dynamo but has had an alternator conversion, so I've replaced the loom with a second hand one from an alternator car.

1. OPTRONIC System -
I've connected the purple to the -ve side of the coil, but I've got a bit of a mental block about whether it's the white or white and black which needs attaching to the red? I'm thinking it's the white, but that leaves no connection to the + side of the coil?

2. WIPER MOTOR -
I've got a brown and yellow, a red and light green, a light green and brown, and a blue and red coming out of the wiper motor. The switch has only 3 terminals? I got the circuit tester out and with the ignition on, all 4 are dead. What am I missing? Should one of them be connected to live somewhere?
It was working when I took it out - I'm going to dig out the photos I took when I stripped it, but any help would be gratefully received...

Thanks everyone -
Mark

Yep, I've got that diagram off the Lumenition site - but which one is the Red on that diagram - the white, or the black and white??

From memory, the red from the Lumenition module should be connected to the ignition feed - white. You can connect it to the +ve side of the coil, but it may cause problems with the tacho reading.

The purple (or brown on early models) connects to the -ve side of the coil in place of the short white/black wire which normally goes to the dissy.

If you have a later loom, does it have two white/black wires at the coil? If so, one of them is the pulse wire for the later style tacho. If you have the early tacho, it won't work with this loom.

The wipers are another story. I will have to have a look at a wiring diagram.

There is an inline fuse for the wipers. It is located near the bulhead, in the region of the clutch master cylinder and heater blower.

Thanks Dave, that was the conclusion I'd come to, but I'm keen not to let the smoke out of the box!

There were two black and white - one from coil to dissy and the other from coil to tacho. I've removed the coil to dissy one - think that it's fine!

I'll check the fuse on the bulkhead and squint at my photos and see if I can figure out what's up with the wipers!

My target is to be back on the road in time for the Classic Tour of Cornwall 29th June.
