MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Oselli A600 Camshaft.
Does anyone know details of this camshaft - was described as 'fast road - high lift' Have e mailed Oselli but not had response as yet. Need to get a new dizzy curved up following Aldon R/Road session found mine was not working correctly (recon Moss unit). R. |

Oselli are not really the same company they were 15-20 years ago. Are you sure the cam is a 600 and not an 800? The 800 is spider drive 24/54/59/29 268 duratio, 320 thou lift full lift at 110 degress and 15 thou tappet clearances. |

Daniel, The spec sheet says A600. I've had the engine about 5 years ago - finally started up in my reshell about 18 months ago. Runs well - think cam is fairly mild. I had a 'Motorway spec B' engine when they were at the old site - probably 18 years ago and it was a good unit - hence why I got the midget one. Looking at Aldon Yellow top with vac ? R. |

Richard, The Oselli A600 spec from their catalogue dated May 1990 is: 'Rally', 37/71/71/37, 288° duration inlet/exhaust, 0.360" valve lift with std 1.25 rockers, 0.016" tappet clearance, 107° inlet valve full open for timing setting It was fitted to their 1293 'Fast Road' spec engines, and as a slight de-tune on the 1293 'Rally' spec (Kent 286 was standard). Richard, Thanks very much for that info - great ! Mine is the 1293 fast road spec engine you note. Does the book list any other interesting facts - output / carbs etc ? Currently running twin 1.25 with tubular exhaust. Thanks again. R. |

Hi If your current dissy is ok aldon can re-curve and that will save you some cash!! Cheers Mark |

Richard, I have scanned the 1293 spec page into a pdf file. If you let me have your email address I will send it to you. Richard |

Thanks again Richard for your help, much appreciated. rdboobier/at/btinternet/dot/com take out / and change the usual bits. Think that makes my cam similar to 276 ? By the way my first car ended up as tuned up minor in the '70s - must look for some pics. R. |

Richard, The 276 has a timing of 270°/280° and the 286 280°/290°, which makes the A600 with 288°/288° appear superficially more 'hairy' than the even the 286, but Oselli said in 1990 that using the options of the A600 for a 'slightly detuned' version of their 1293 Rally engine. Obviously a lot more to cam design than the basic timing, and would be interested to see the RR plot from Aldon? Richard |

Richard, i have a Aldon non vac dizzy going spare from my spare engine which i'm converting to crankfired ignition if your interested. cheers Brad |
