MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Over revving help?
Hi all,
1275 midget Mk 3 Car has been behaving really well until today! So driving up a hill and gave it a bit of right foot, but at the top of the hill, revs didn't drop back when foot pressure eased off. Rather noisy journey home! Back home, lubricated all links in case of anything sticking with no effect. Found out the fitting on the throttle inter connector where it abuts the heat shield was in fact sticking. I've never had this before and my Autodata Midget book doesn't tell me how to fix it. So , is there a way to ease this throttle stop from the Heat shield that an idiot could follow? ( shame as the car has been running really well until now - just before Drive it Day too!) ALL suggestions really gratefully received! cheers colin |

Colin, Without a pic it’s hard to visualise. With the springs disconnected the throttles should be free to easily open and close. Are you sure that both carbs are still fully closing back to the stops ? I’m wondering if one of the clamps joining the twins together has slipped and is now opening too much and Jamming - you did say you had given it some beans ! prior to the issue. I’m assuming the choke’s are fully returned! R. |

Hi Richard, Thanks for your help. After all that, it was "JUST" the cable ....replaced it and all sweet! cheer colin |
