MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Pedal set

Things go on in the background here on the BBS so I thought I would acknowledge the help given to me by David Smith and Mike Wood. Many thanks to both!

My Frogeye project had arrived with me fully dismantled and I only recently realised it had no clutch or brake pedals! Thanks to the BBS I now have a set!

The cotter pin holes were a bit worn but after filling them with weld and redrilling, plus a couple of coats of paint I now have some decent pedals, now installed.

Another small step . . . . !

glad to be of some small help - that's what community is all about

You are very welcome and good to see NLA parts being put back into vehicles (excellent job on sorting the oval holes for the clevis pins).

I wholeheartedly agree with David's comments above, and it was he who had the gumption to save this pedal box and its 3/4" inch master cylinder from a scrap car.

Cheers

Be sure to lubricate the clevis pin and hole with grease. You will never have the wear problem again. My 1971 was shipped dry from the factory and the clutch pedal developed an oval within a couple of years. I replaced the pedal (they were still available through the dealer then.) I have always kept the pins and pedal holes lubricated since and they have lasted the next 47 years without appreciable wear.

My pedal tip - get some of that sticky backed non-slip tape and stick it to the pedals. Shamelessly stolen from the Irish rally boys.
Rob Armstrong

Deck-tape, available from marine suppliers.

You could also use pedal rubbers ;o)

Deck tape - how sophisticated! Back in the day (rallying a mini in Wales in the early '70s) we used to stick strips of coarse sandpaper on the pedals! It needed replacing after every event!

Before I got my tilton set up...

I think i JB welded (2part epoxy) a flat washer over the oveled hole and a new clivious pin... but I can't remember exactly how I fixed it, only that I did and it didn't use a welder... they worked fine up until I got the tilton set up

Ah this reminds me I have a complete unwanted early midget pedal box going to the scrappy if no-one wants it

Nice pedals Guy
