MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Petroflex Pipe
I am replacing the carb to carb fuel pipe on my 1275 (1974) RWA midget. I bought a new Petroflex Pipe from Moss which is 14 inches long and it won't reach both float chambers!! Is this the correct/standard length? Or is there something wrong with the configuration of the carbs? Thanks. Andy |

Mark Photo is attached. Hopefully you can see the difference in the lengths of the pipe which is approximately 1 inch. Asked at MOSS today and they have never had this problem reported to them before!! Any help much appreciated. Andy |

Andy that is because I think your set up is not right. The feed to the carbs should go to a remote tee piece fitted to the long pipe and a short pipe to the first carburettor. Not as yours is which has the tee piece built into the first carb top. This as you are now aware causes the long pipe to have a tight kink placed into it to be able o connect to the carburettor. I will take a photo of a correct installation if his description is unclear. Bob Local idiot. :-)) |

andy, they certainly look the same as mine did pre-HIF44 http://www.eatworms.org.uk/album/album2.php?album=Midget-HIF44&mode=page&index=1 Unfortunately now buried in a box so I cant check the length quickly. |

Andy, As mine is the same as Dean's - see pic. I will venture into the garage after dinner and report back the length. This one came from Moss also. Richard. |

Andy, Measured the pipe 14.25 inches, its similar to yours so it should fit - its quite tight. This arrangement is as original '73 brochures, Moss and Horler (OS&M) Richard. |

Yep, I have the same set-up on the fuel pipes. Mark |

There you go should read Moss' parts catalogue more often and not rely on my car for what is normal. I got my present Midget 30 years ago and removed these carbs from it about 25 years ago. I naturally assumed they were as from new. That said the previous owner had blow up the 1275 engine (1971 MK111) just before I bought the car and had fitted an 1100cc engine. I wonder if my carbs came with that? |
