MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Phoenix Brake Bleeder

Looks pretty cool:

Wonder if it would tame the demon Spridget clutch system?

;-)

Mh, looks a seringe with some tubing will do the job just as well.
Good idea.

Looks like a good piece of kit, but very expensive. $369 for the pro version which doesn't look that different to the DIY one.

Gryf. If that won't solve your clutch problem, nothing will!

Bernie.

Gryf,

I Think its overpriced....Go to harbor fraight and get a vacume pump....its the samething.

I went to K-Mart and spent $6.95 for a hand held garden sprayer. Took off the spray nozzle and fitted a 4' piece of vinyl tubing. Filled the sprayer half full with brake fluid-pumped up the pressure and pulled the trigger after fitting it to the bleed valve-be it brake cyl. or clutch slave. When bubbles stopped close the bleeder and all is normally well. I also use a larger pressure can to pre fill a rebuilt engine through the oil pressure outlet.
I have used that system for over 30 years now.

I got one even simplier ....

10 foot long piece of clear hose hooked to the bleeder and the other end submerged into the the master resievor..."SLOWLY" pump the pedal and watch the bubbles, when the bubbles run clear, re-tighten the bleeder...

DONE!!!

Opps!! sorry, remove clear hose and re-apply cap.

Still the easist by far is garvity bleed...IMHO!

Besides being crazy expensive, I wonder how wise it is to pump old, dirty, contaminated and gritty brake fluid up into the master cylinder and potentially damage the seals.

The old, but troublesome, method exposes the seals to only fresh, clean fluid.

Even cheaper harbor freight one

HHHMmmm Lee,

A differance of opinion on the working concept....My understanding was the Phoenix Brake Bleeder sucked the brake fluid thur the bleeder on the brake caliper...aka, pulling the old dirty fluid from the master cylinder....I hadnt considard that the Phoenix Brake Bleeder was a pusher...aka pushed the fluid out the master clyinder....If the device is of the later type, then I got to fully agree with you lee, that is a bad idea.
