MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Progress update - advice needed...
Got back out to the garage for the first time in three months... Managed to get the RH toeboard in, it took a lot of trimming as ive noticed the front of my new floor is slightly high. Im not worried about that, if i can work around it. Heres the toe board - my welding has not improved in the three month break! |

I then trial fitted all the other bits; footwell side, a-post and inner sill... i could not seem to get the inner sill to lign up at the front, the drain hole is half covered by the floor flange, i guess the flange can be cut back a little, this is just because the front of the floor is slightly hight than it should be i think... |

i notice some interesting issues at the rear bulkhead repair, looks like there might need to be some patch work!

Rob Keep going you are making progress every time you weld a bit on or chop out some rot I admire your courage for taking on this project I got my first drive today only to the end of my road and back but is was so much fun.. |

so patch it and dont worry as your welding gets better you will pick up more confidence too The inner sill is important and you need several shots at getting it in the proper place so that the front and back of that side of the car can line up when you are satisfied that the panel is in the right place, just tack weld a couple of places and then you can become fussier about the "fit" of it all. yes you can slightly modify drain holes slots and such, it is far more important to get the floor "box" square than to get it pretty Keep it up, I think you are doing fine for the beginner keep posting again now you are back playing in Mr Mig's game! |

Don't worry about drain holes not lining up. they didn't when I did mine. I welded 'em up and cut some new ones. As Bill says, if you are worried about alignment then tack the inner panels together with the minimum amount of spots to just locate them. Rob |

Good to see you are making progess. I remember the first time you posted with what most would consider an ambitious project. Most people who start these Lazarus projects do not finish them. You look like you are on the way to being the exception! Please keep posting, and maybe you should think about starting a site where you can post more tthan one picture at a time. I often keep myself motivated by looking back at where I have been so that I can appreciate the progress! Pete |
