MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Prop Is your head attached?

Prop -
In your picture on the dipstick thread, there appears to be an awful lot of thread exposed above your whiz-bang 12 pt head nuts. I'm sure you have some sort of exorbitant studs, but this much thread usually means the nuts are bottomed on the thread ends, and the head is loose. All of which might explain your problem. IE, if the gasket is blown into the pushrod holes/tappet chest, and the oil feed, and the coolant passages.

But it does LOOK nice! :)
Dave Rhine ('78 1500)

That is not Prop's engine. But good observation.
Trevor Jessie

Sorry Fletcher,

Tevor is correct, I didnt mean to mis-lead.

Im a photo collector of all things midget, any time I see something cool on a midget, I take a cop

My prized baby below from last fall...

There is a vent (not seen) on side of block for evac

The Carbs are (Future additions, a little something special Ive been working on...NOT installed)

yes those are spark plugs in the header...(mock up for O2 sensors)

My afco aluminum double pass rad in the back ground sitting on the tolit (think tank)

Prop.... Think tanks can flush bad ideas away

Prop

Well. nevermind!
Actually its a good thing to check, I've had a couple of cars show up with bottomed out stud nuts, and leaking gaskets.

You have a crapper in your garage?????????

rob thomas

Rob,
I think he has an engine in his crapper room.
David "none in mine" Lieb
David Lieb

No by-pass hose?
Guy Weller

no he has a special electro magnetic system that guids the water from one pipe to the other
Onno Könemann

Sound's like the engine took a crap! ;)
Dave Rhine ('78 1500)

Very nice looking engine Prop!

At first I thought you had some kind of turbo flush system on it.

Fletcher, GM found that very thing with their early 350 diesels in cars. All those blown head gaskets and it was all from long studs.
tomshobby

Don't know about Prop's technical ability but he sure can paint. The finish is fantastic Prop.
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

Robert,

Have you forgotten that Prop had the block powder coated so he didn't paint it, rather he removed the compacted soda that packed the oilways after it was soda blasted prior to powder coating. It is a nice paint job but I wouldn't have chosen beige for the block.
David Billington

No matter how he did it, it sure is PURDY! :)

Good good job Prop.
Dave Rhine ('78 1500)

No question it does look good, like the contrasting black rocker cover. You got an installed shot ?

Wheres the manifold (header) from ?
Dean Smith ('73 RWA)

Dave,

Not as Purdy as Joanna Lumley!.
David Billington

Thanks everyone, that vary nice of you guys

The color of the engine dosnt show up well in electronics...There is No beige on it...Its a swamp water green color...I really like the color plate also of the green, the satin blck, and the brushed stainless steel.

The header is a custom header off ebay, a pacesetter knock off, Its a 3 into one, the guy did a great job making it, Ive had it for about 4 years, I had a spin flange welded to the bottom for easier bolt on.

The tolit came out of a new house 2 yars ago, and was being thrown away (never used) as the new owners wanted something more high end, So its my "Think tank" for the time being. Perhaps Ill find away to mount it to the midget rear boot...LOL

Joanna Lumley is definatly more purdy then the Black hole engine.

I didn't know you could powder coat plastic fans.
Brad (Sprite IV 1380)

Hey brad,

A few parts I wasnt able to powder coat aka,,,transmission, So I had an auto paint store color match and mixed up so 2 pack and i sprayed those parts...on the fan I found some plastic primer and primed it 1st.
Prop

I didn't see any plastic fans on her?
tomshobby

Tom,
it's a very, very old photo of Joanna.
Almost as old as Props engine, but more used.
