MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Prop So about the engine
Prop, I haven't seen anything further regarding your engine. Have you found out what happened and what are you going to do. I know you were already building a head. Do you also have a spare block that you were building or were you going to rebuild this one. Looking forward to an update. Allan |

Sorry Allen, Not been alot to report, I have been trying to race daylight in the evening to get the motor out...today should be the day...all chained up to the lift, and ready to yank it out...so hopefully will know more of what happened tonight. I found a guy right here in town that has 2 junk midgets (i didnt know about) that he is parting out, So if need be I got a rebulidable 1275 to work with and may have found some rods incase my engine is okay...I got the 21253's +.60 10:1 cr mini cooper pistons ordered yesterday, and got most of the details worked out to have the block powder coated...(moss green), they dont do ceramic on headers anymore, put he is going to let me give it a try in his shop (how cool is that...If it works well, maybe I'll Have a new side business....ceramic headers) I'll give an update tonight or tomarrow with what I find. Thanks for asking, prop |

Another Update... I just talked to BPNW and they are out of my 21253 pistons, so Im getting the exact same thing from a piston that they carry called a "sakura" made in japan, supposed to be better (not sure how....slips better in the cly. then the AE) and more expensive, but has the same diminisons and uses the same ring as AE, and saame metal thickiness and content...setting it a good discount....apperantly carried them for over 10 years So did I screw up or come out ahead...I have never heard of "sakura pistons" before, anyone else? prop |

Prop: I am interested in the Sakura pistons and like you have never heard of them before. I have used the 21253 pistons in my race car (SCCA Limited Prep H Production 1275) but if there is something better-!. Do you have a part number for the Sakura piston and what is the name of the company that you are using to purchase the Sakuras? Thanks, John |

Hey John, I got them from British parts north west, dont have a part # just yet, they should be coming in this week, I'll post the part # at that time...Or email you what I find when they come in. Apperartly "Sakura" is one of the 3 largest piston companys in japan.....Im just hoping there are more then 3 piston companys in japan...lol They arwe not listed on there website...so will see. considering no one has heard of them, Im thinking serously of returning them for the 21253's just for peice of mind http://www.bpnorthwest.com/.sc/ms/cat/Sprite%5E2FMidget prop |
