MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Radiator cap query
I need a new radiator cap for my 1275 midget cross-flow radiator (OK it is actually its for the expansion tank). My MOSS catalogue cites GRC1110 as the right cap. Apart from the part number being wrong (it should be just GRC110) it states that this is a 15 psi cap. Is that correct? I thought the cap should be 7 psi although my Haynes manual states that late 1275s had a 15 psi cap. Is 15 psi too high (surely a strain on hoses etc.)? If I need a 7 psi cap where do I get one from as all the obvious suppliers seem to be offering only a 15 psi cap for a Midget? |

GRC110, is the 15lb cap for the expansion tanks on the later 1275 and 1500 x-flow radiator setups. You have the correct cap. The 7lbs cap, GRC101, is a longer neck cap, and won't fit in the expansion bottle. |

And to complete the 7lb cap was used only on the older style vertical flow rad |

Thanks Lawrence. I'm sure you are right but I'm still surprised and obviously labouring under a misapprehension all these years! I'll order a GRC110 straight away from the usual source. |
