MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Ragtop change
I'm just about to change the top, so that I've got a nice one to fold away for summer. Can anybody help with what "glue" to use for the hood to header rail fixing and if possible, a type that is easily available. Which sort did you use ? Did you have any problems ? Any tips ? All the best. |

A glue that's good for most types of upholstery job is Evo-stik Timebond, you know it's good when the shelf just has empty display tins and you have to ask at the checkout for it... they keep it in a special locked cupboard... |

yep, Evostick Timbond is a good one to use, gives you a bit of time to manoeuvre things around before making the final decision. Good luck! Jeremy |

I used evo-stick Impact adhesive on mine, as recommended by the instructions. It did the job very well, but it's a bit scary having to get it right first time. Lots of measuring, teeth sucking, trying, building up courage... Timebond sounds like a good idea to me! All in all, though, I have to say that the replacement hood was nowhere near as difficult as I thought it would be. A very satisfying job, in fact. If you can get hold of a copy of the 'An MG is Born' DVD (a very good watch if you like these sort of things), it includes quite a detailed illustration of how they do the hood on an MGB - the midget one is almost the same... Good luck! |
