MG Midget and Sprite Technical - RB 340 regulator
I just need a little confirmation please. I am doing a little bit of research and it would suggest that this particular voltage regulator was only ever fitted to MK111 midgets and was never fitted to MK1V Sprites. The RB 340 voltage regulator is the one with 3 bobbins inside and is sealed with reusable plastic rivets. The one that I believe is fitted to all Sprites is an RB 106 and has 2 Bobbins inside and the top is held on with a spring clip. Most Midgets have this one also but a few (including my own car 1971/72 sq Midget) were fitted with the 340. So can any sprite owner without an RB 106 please let me know. Many many thanks |

According to parts book, RB340 was fitted to Sprites fron HAN10 85287 to 86803 and AAN10 86804 to 87824. Midgets from GAN5 74886 to 105500 (USA & Canada) or 128262 (except USA & Canada) - presumably because North America had alternators before the rest of us. The change point for the RB106 to RB340 is the same as the change from 2-fuse fusebox to 4-fuse fusebox. |
