MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rear Brake Mod
Has anyone experience in fitting Marina back brakes to midgets. The usual mod is either Riley Wolseley 1500 rear brakes but are like hens teeth to get hold of. |

Peter No, but guess you have seen the following thread on Wolsley 1500 brakes: http://www.mg-cars.net/mg-midget-sprite-technical-bbs/wolseley-8-brakes-2011030318333817566.htm I picked up a set of backplates last year - they do come up. Cheers Mike |

I seem to remember being offered some Marina wheels for my Midget yonks ago but when tried they weren't the same PCD. Or do you already have a plan for which drums to use? I'm also guessing there is some regs/historic constraint here. |

IIRC Marina wheels are 3.75" PCD just like Spitfire/GT6 and some of the other Triumph/Standard cars. |

Hi Peter. I have in the past put Marina rear drums on my racing Frog. I made a jog for refilling the drums to 4" PCs and also the back plate did need some cutting to make it fit. I didn't like the availability of different size slave cylinders. I went back to sprite drums but with Mini front shoes for a bit of extra surface area but now have rear disks. I may still have a Marina set and the jig in the garage some where Regards. Simon |
