MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rear end

Gents

Comparing my midget to others and various photos, I think the car is sitting a wee bit low at the rear. I am not unduly bothered by this. The car handles well enough and there is no bottoming out, it is purely an aesthetic consideration.

Springs look to be originals, and one of the jobs this winter was to replace the bushes and the spring holders - but not the springs themselves. Would this improve matters in raising the rear up a touch?

If not, what would? - apart from replacing the springs.

Thanks as always

Hi,

A picture would help.

Can't imagine that changing the bushes and spring holders will make any difference to the ride height. My Midget has the original springs on the rear also. It too seemed to be sitting a little 'nose up'.

I resolved this by lowering the front end :)

Mark,
if you measure from the ground to the bottom of the sill at the rear (both sides or average of both) it can be compared to those already listed in another thread

replacing worn bushes is a good idea and should improve ride and handling

I'm not sure which you mean by spring holders but with the metal bit then unless they're very worn, not fitted correctly or wrong part then I can't think it would alter height

replace all the bushes etc as said (refurb the carriers)

Keep the (soft?) springs on the rear

lower / uprate the front springs to suit, if not done so already - as suggested

Upgrade the ARB

And away you go!
