MG Midget and Sprite Technical - rear suspension
when i took the rear suspension off the shell i bought there were spacers under the front bracket for the rear spring they were 20mm thick, cant see what the PO was trying to achive because surely that would raise the rear end body. |

they are fitted to 1500 midgets to get the ride height up a bit to meet the safety regs that also required the bumpers. Don't bother putting them back. |

my other 1500 does not have them which is a 77 the shell is a 79 so must have fitted them later |

Mark my 1975 1500 had them, so I think all 1500s were originally fitted with them. |

I know I had them on my midget(originaly a 1500) Come to think of it ... do I still have them under the car??? Should check next time, with the new exhaust hanging horizontal under the car hight isnt nessecary anymore. |

Yeah, they are a rubber bumper thing. They could easily have gone walkies from your other shell. I had them on my '76. Malc |

I was looking at another thing in workshop manual and came across the only reference to the spacer i have seen as there is nothing in manual for rear springs or anything in moss cataloge.

Yes, its odd that it doesnt appear in the Moss Parts catalogue. It feels like its an after thought at the factory. Someone got their sums wrong when specifying the 1500 rear springs and the rear sat too low, so they just plonked some spacers underneath. |
