MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Regulator
Hi, anyone out there know of an electronic voltage regulator available for my 1972 1275 midget Mkiii? Mine is u/s and I need to replace it. I read up on checking and adjusting it and think I might try and find an alternative. cheers Andrew |

Hi Andrew Is that the lucas control box RB106? Mine was us and i got a direct replacement from an auto electrics shop in Chatham for £25.00. it was the sort of old fashioned shop that I thought had all disappeared, the chap in there was very helpful and also gave my dynamo a free health check. Its on Ordnance Street near the station. Depending on where you are in Kent it might be quicker going there than mail ordering one. |

if I'm right I think Andrew wants an electronic alternative to the standard control box rather than just replacing it like for like standard control boxes - http://www.sussexclassiccar.co.uk/shop_factory_hazel/contents/en-uk/d1267_01.html so possibly this type of thing - http://www.dynamoregulatorconversions.com/prices-inc-postage-and-ways-to-pay.php also see the top of this page - http://www.aoservices.co.uk/facts.htm |

When my control box died, I took the opportunity to changing from dynamo to alternator, so there was no need of the control box. |

mailto:info@dynamoregulatorconversions.com - do regulator conversions although I have no experience of the firm nor know anyone who has yet had a regulator converted. Andrew you could do away with the regulator and fit an alternator in place of the dynamo. An alternator from a mini parts supplier (minispares) for your car is about £43. Alan www.masckent.org |
