Onno, You can buy special material for packing exhausts from certain suppliers, at least in the UK. I haven't got any links at the moment but could ask a friend where he got his. We refilled the exhaust on his Caterham and he bought the fibre packing, looked like long strand fibreglass not matted and sort of like a platinum blond wig. For his exhaust a woven stainless steel is placed around the centre perforated tube to take the direct gas blast and the fibre material fitted around that. He went the cheap option on the stainless and used stainless steel kitchen scourers as they were available cheap from a local shop, they can be unrolled and slide down the perforated tube. |

Onno, I remembered a site I had seen before http://www.milneroffroad.com/PIPE.HTM (see bottom of page) and that led to a search on google (UK sites) for "e glass exhaust" which turns up various sources and information. http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/EXHAUSTS-Exhaust-Packing/c223_231/index.html Worth checking further as I think there are alternatives. |

Peter May sells the exhaust packing material, about £15 for a box IIRC. |
