MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Replacing vinyl rear-windoww and quarter lights

My 77-78 1500 midget has a really nice mohair soft top from a restoration at some timr in it's past. This roof is perfectly serviceable and looks fantastic. . . apart from the rear window (which has gone all cloudy and looks a little slack. . and the rear quarter light plastic windows to the sides of the rear window, these have become worn and come away from the roof in places. Is it possible to replace the windows with some plastic from a dealer or something or are their places which wpouldsell me the patterned parts. It looks like they could be stiched in but could an amateur (idiot) like me fix it so it doesn't leak. I know this isn't a petrol-head question but it annoys me as it is the only thing that makes my midget look sh1t (from a distance)

If you do the deed, Id suggest making the windows with zippers.

what ever you do make sure you do it on a hot day, so the material can relax

Upholstery shops do this, routine. Plastic is much better now, and industry has all gone to China; We used to have to replace the windows every six months on some cars that were parked near steel mills etc.
Ditto on the zippered rear window.

I bought some of the plastic from an e-bay supplier and hand-stitched one of the rear quarter light windows. Mine was into a vinyl hood, but I imagine you could do this with a mohair one in the same way. It made a reasonable job but it was slow and awkward to keep the tensioning right.

I would suggest going to an upholstery shop, or maybe a Saddlers, if you can find one in London.

cloudiness and discolouring can be removed with Greygate vinyl polish, I've used it on an MGF to good effect.
There's a hood repair company called summat like Perfect Vision, they advertise in the MGCC mag.

toothpaste also works to clean and polish plastic windows they say

it certainly works on clear parts for model kits
