MG Midget and Sprite Technical - reversing light switch
Can a reversing light switch be fitted to any ribcase gearbox? I have a couple of spare ribcases but neither seems to have the R/L switch. Chris |

no, but yes ! Pre-68 1275s, all 1098s and all Morris 1000 ribcase boxes do not have the rev light fitting. But the remote can be swapped bewteen main casings.... |

Thanks David. I suppose the absence of a R/L switch raises questions about the provenance of my two spare G/boxes. Are they pre 1275, 1098 or Morris 1000. There are no markings on the laygear so difficult to tell. Chris |

Chris, often v difficult to see but there *should* be a stamped number on the plain part of the input shaft below the splined bit. Clean it up with petrol or brake cleaner, shine a light at it and peer through one of the inspection holes sideways-on while twisting the shaft. 22G229 is 1275midget, 22G171 is M1000 and there may be others... tell us what you find. |

I though the switch was NLA? |

Daniel - I bought a reversing light switch last month from the MGBHive. They had them on the shelf... |
