MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Revolution Wheelnuts
I bought a set of revolution wheel nuts of ebay a year and a half ago, ebay number120807791847, But today when i finally tried to fit the wheels the nuts were to big. I've got 13" revolution wheels, but if those studs are wrong which size do i need? Alex |

What do you mean by the wheel nuts are to big....that can have several differant difiantions As to the stud dia. The midget studs dia are 3/8 inch... todays common auto parts store smallest is 7/16 inch , so it takes some working tracking them down Prop |

This is a bad photo but the one's i've got are listed as sprite/midget nuts and are 3/8 but the outerdiameter is to wide to fit through the holes in the rim.

How much too big are they? Is it possible that it is just the coating on the rim that is making the hole too small? |

The differens is 6mm. I suppose that the 13" rims use a smaller nut.. |

the wheels Magic Midget sell - "NEW 5” Revolution The classic 4 spoke competition wheel, polished alloy rim, with black centre. Very lightweight - 4.3kg now with 60 degree taper wheelnuts." note the "now with 60 degree taper wheelnuts" that and the prefix "NEW", these may suggest that there's more than one type of Revolution wheel and fixing - or perhaps the (lightweight) competition wheel is different(?) (note I don't know just speculating) perhaps you have the older wheels and new wheelnuts or the other way round http://magicmidget.co.uk/ |

ETA: or competition wheels and not competition wheelnuts or the other way round |

I wouldnt try to redrill the wheel....it seems like a good idea, but its got grimlins all over it Id take the lugs to a machineist and have them turned on a lathe Prop |

Alex, The wheelnuts you show in your photo are for the older original Revolution wheels which use a washer and dont have a tapered seat. (There are 2 sizes of these as well, I believe 5/8" and 11/16" from memory.). You need the 60 degree tapered wheelnuts as fitted to the Rostyle wheels, but preferably with the larger contact face. (so called 'Bulge nuts'). regards Kim |
