MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Revolution wheels

Hi

Many BBS threads mention minilite copy wheels, some quality issues and fitting issues with unsuitable offsets resolved with spacers and longer studs, grinding down track rod end studs and fitting different. nuts,,as well as seating issues due to manufacturing/QA faults.

What about Revolution 13x5 inch four spokes - any such issues? Seemed ok on: http://www.mg-cars.net/mg-midget-sprite-technical-bbs/oh-nonot-another-wheel-and-tyre-question-2012120413102228412.htm

Revolutions are light, available from Magic Midget and still UK made? Seems like the only other suitable UK made alloys are real minilites, following the demise of KN Wheels who seemed to have already outsourced production of Minataurs anyway.

Cheers

Mike,
I've not noticed any threads mentioning trouble with minilite copies where the wheels and tyres are to remain standard size (i.e. 13"x5" wheels with 145 or 155 13" tyres) and the current wheels are Rostyle (and steel?)

if you're going for bigger wheels and tyres then that could be a different matter

my only issues with the Minaturs I have was that the stick on weights were put where there'd catch the very close TRE (just make sure they're put a very little more inboard and no problems) and I thought my wheels got small scratches easily in use but nothing to really bother me, I only notice when I'm polishing the wheels, which isn't often

I've got two sets of the super cheap foreign made minilite copies and they are great. No issues whatsoever and they get some hammer. They are 13 x 5.

I'm considering getting a set of the revolutions from Kim as I like the fact they are lighter and different to the now commonplace minilites.

Only the lead stick on weight issue Is all I can recall...and not that big of a deal, but jf your doing some thing over the top radical, yes there will be some issues,,,but thats to be expected

The revolution are a good wheel, I think its a matter of looks, personal preferance and ease of market access when purchasing is the reason the revolution wheel is almost 2nd and 3rd on everyones wish list

I have 13x5 revolutions on my midget. I like the look of them, and they're light. Got them from Magic Midget.

I have a set of 5.5 x 13 Revs for the frog which I put on for track days. I prefer them to the Minilites but its a personal preference. They are light and well made in my view.
