MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Rotisserie frame
Hi, I have a rotisserie frame but am unsure where are the best (or most secure) strong points are to attach my MG midget. The rear and front bumper mounts are accessible but I’m not sure how strong these are. The car is stripped to a shell so minimal weight. Any advice much appreciated, Regards, Pete Malthouse |

Normal would be the rear bumper mounts and the two chassis leg extensions at the front. But that would need appropriate brackets or frames at either end of the rotisserie to match. Bigger problem is if your body tub is badly rusted as front chassis extensions are vulnerable, as is the boot floor/ rear valance. In that case you need to be more adaptable or maybe repair these parts first, before using the rotisserie |

i used the bumper mounts on mine but its a 1500 shell not sure on the earlier shell |

Another potential problem is door gaps distorting or shell twisting if sills or floors are to be replaced. Leave the doors on and consider welding some bracing bars across and diagonally before you lift the shell. |

I braced door openings at top and bottom with angle irons, welded on at one end and with an adjustable threaded bar, bracket and lock nuts at the other end.Gives micro adjustment with the turn of a spanner. 😁 I also added a diagonal brace across the cockpit and vertical supports under the scuttle. That was all added with the tub on a levelled platform, before it was lifted onto the rotisserie, and then all left in place until all welding repairs had been completed. |
