MG Midget and Sprite Technical - RWA rearwing fitting

Thanks to a very nice member of this board I nowhave a couple of RWA rear wings to fit to my 1500 midget. (see photo)
I am thinking of buying some new outer wheel arch panels from Heratige despite the cost. I then could do with some advice on the best way to fit the rearwing ie how much of it should I use? Can I split it at the beading, or take it around to the rear panel and across the panel above the boot, or could I just cut it so that it fits as a repair panel. Any advice would be much appreciated, my welding is not the best but I am sure it will be better when I have finished this job.

Cheers Carl

Carl, if your panel joint at the beading is fit and healthy I would just trim that panel to use it as a localised repair, maybe pick up off the front edge at the "B-post" and to the trailing edge of the rear curve.

But if the beading junction is any thing like the bead on the donor I'd trim back all the way to it and then work out and down from it

It would be a good idea to "show us wot you got" at present so we can all pontificate

When I used a rear end skin on Lara it had the inner wings attched so I split the weld inside the upper wheel arch and fitted the outer section as if it was a factory jointing job, but as you dont seem to have the inner section it's quite a different story.

It was mentioned in a recent thread, that ford fiesta wheel arch repair panels could be used to convert square arch to round! dunno how true that is, but it would be much easier than replacing the whole wing if the rest is sound!
Mick - I have started painting!!!

Hi There

The car has had its new sills fitted, amazingly and those that saw it will testify she didn't need inner sills, the floors where fine so the bill is not too big! I should have her back tomorrow so I shall take a few photos of the wings and get a better idea as to the way to go about the wing change.

Cheers Carl
