Silly questron which way does the crank go round? on those engines (1.6 vtec ran anticlockwise). My reason for asking is Gearboxes? what will it mate up with? |
K Harris |
S2K rotates clockwise, unlike other Honda vtecs. |
Jordan Gibson |
I did wonder because the MGA-Honda conversion uses the Honda Box as well. I looked at putting the 1.6 vtec engine in the Frog and stopped because of the crank direction, 5speed reverse isn't really practical lol:)) |

Shaun, where are you? |

That looks stunning:) |

Wow with that engine you want to have some sound enginemounting blocks! Looks like the engine bay was modified substantially but is a nice fit. Bas |

there was several threads on this, about 18-24 months ago, where someone did this build, vary impressive ..should be in the arcives...I want to say the guys name was nick something But it does take alot of engineering imagination as I recall...look at bugsukie as well, I actally saw the car last summer, along with many other BBs guys...vary impressive also. http://www.ado13.com/dohczuke/dohc.htm prop |

Jon, I think you will find that this is not an easy fit you have to do some major surgery to get it and the box to fit. If you look in the archive threads on the k-series board there were some pictures of someone doing a 'S' in a midge with some serious mods to the gearbox tunnel Owning and driving an 's' this would be a very scary proposition in a midge 240bhp, 9k redline... Mine has none of the electronice driver aids and you have to be soooo carefull when it's damp...I had to lift off mid way on a roundabout the other day as the back wanted to swap ends with the front but easily controllable by lifting off gently. So consider tyre size and arch mods.. Brakes would have to be a 'special' ie a wilwood kit or something like that, suspension I would definatly go for the fronline front but the rear would depend on the axle you go with as the std would not be up to the job. I would be interested in the fit if you go ahead. But TBH it's going to be more expensive than a 'k' and you can just about do one of those for 4k or see if you can buy a caterham type kit to put it in....wll be easier but thats just my opinion but cracking motor all the same I can highly recommend the spoon ecu and manifold and the best mod for the money, drops the vtec and it pulls all the way to the redline like a steam train. Best of Luck Shaun |

Thanks for all comments Just wandering can i not fit a top & bottom wish bones to accomadate maybe a ford hub & coil overs to get better breaking & handleing. For the rear maybe ford axle for strength, stronger wheel studs & to be the same stud pattern as the front. Look forward to your comments. JON NORTH DEVON |

You will likely have to significantly cut away the front chassis/frame (and thus, suspension mounts will be more up for the taking) Jon so your world will probably be your ostyer with regards to front suspension. |
