MG Midget and Sprite Technical - SeaFoam - has anyone here used it?
Clicky: http://www.seafoamsales.com/motor-treatment/index.html I just heard about this stuff on a MINI forum, and was curious if anyone's tried it on a Spridget. Cheers, -:G:- |

Yep... Used it in my spridget, air compressor & jet ski (my only engines with carbs), seemed to keep the fuel system water free & carbs nice & clean I don't think I'd used in the crackcase though! Who knows? Give it a try... Dave |

I used it years ago but I don't remember which car though it was injected. Smoked like a chimney burning wet wood. Don't remember if it helped or not but I've known a few people who like it. |

I have known people who use SeaFoam but I question its value in the crankcase. Seems to me that it would dilute engine oil. Same for Marvel Mystery Oil. There isn't much to get dirty in an S.U set up other than rust particles lodging in needle valves. Additives will do little to avoid this. Otherwise, it is mostly cosmetic or, as in the case of front throttle shaft wear, invisible. For storing fuel for long periods, perhaps Stabil is as good as SeaFoam and a bit more specific in its purpose. |

I have never believed in additives till I tried Seafoam in my gas tank. It worked wonders in my outboards, lawnmower, and my TR3. I put it in my midget tank, but because of other issues I have not been able to drive it much, but I suspect that it will help. It took my outboards from idling like crap to running great. I just use it in my gas tanks, and I also question how it would help in the crankcase. |

Al I forgot about my boat...tried Seafoam in that a few years back & seemed to smooth it out like you said. I'd question use in the crankcase. I used Marvel years back in my motorcycle fuel tank only...seemed to keep the carb pistons clean & free. Pick your poison...Marvel & Seafoam both seemed to work for me. |

Stabil is a good thing to avoid, at least if you are still running H1 carbs on your 948. It attacks the rubber grommets that attach the float bowl to the carb, restricting fuel flow and creating very interesting symptoms. David "BTDT" Lieb |

I guess my main reason in asking is that I noticed carbon buildup on my valves a few years ago when fitting a new exhaust manifold, and was wondering if SeaFoam performs as advertised when it comes to removing such deposits. I agree with the comments about using it in the sump. I'd rather just drive regularly to remove water from condensation, etc. -:G:- |

I'm always wary of additives that will take a worn out engine and make it perform like new again. This isn't quite in the same league of course but the cheapest and best thing you can do for your car is to change the oil with a good quality one regularly. Oil is the life blood of an engine. |
