MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Side lights flashing

I've cleaned all the earths I can find, 3 in the engine bay and 1 in the boot, put a new headlight switch in as it makes the indicators come on without flashing as well as separately the side lights flash when I put the hazards on.
Any ideas guys ?

Simplest possibility would be stray shorts at the stalk switchset on the column, followed by (less likely) the same thing at the multi-connector for the stalk switch loom.
After that you're into the lighting loom itself.

I meant to say, its intermittent when th e car is running

The hazard switches are known to cause funny lighting problems because they are used so seldom. Sometimes, switching them on/off several times will clean up the contacts.

Scott,
are you sure your car is wired correctly including the switch terminals (and good earths)?

Before doing any electrics diagnostics do make sure your battery is full charged and in good condition and that the battery posts, post clamps, leads and connections are all clean, secure and protected.

PO wiring and earth problems can cause all sorts of strange things to happen and intermittently.

Try isolating the separate circuits to chase down wires, switches, clusters, bulbs and connections on each.
