MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Slave cylinder seal failure?
First post on this forum and pretty much a brand new MG midget owner! Any advice on the following issue would be most welcome. I have a late 79 Midget 1500 and I'm in the process of replacing the clutch (what joy getting the lump out!) and have noticed a small amount of fluid seeping out past the pushrod and into the bell housing when it is moved backwards and forwards in the slave cylinder. It is not a huge amount of fluid (one or two drops), but I'm guessing there shouldn't be any fluid escaping past the rod, is this a case of change the seals on the slave? I know that this might sound like a stupid question, but I've been married a while and usually wait to be told before doing most things! Cheers Dave |

Yes, as long as the cylinder bore isn't scored, you should be able to just put some new seals in. A hone wouldn't hurt. |

Cheers Dave, I'll get some seals sorted whilst the lump is out. |
