MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Soft Top help # 2!

Hi all,
midget Mk III
Thanks for all your help re my last posting.
Can I ask 1 question to which I cannot find the answer- I have looked at all my manuals / web etc .
The rubber seal on the bottom of the rail with the Closing clips / latches.
Does the seal sit entirely OUTSIDE the car in the top windscreen gutter or does part of the seal protrude over the top of the windscreen rail so it comes into the car and is then squashed down?
I hope that makes sense....!
Cheers all

Colin,
the seal should sit the other side of the internal lip on the windscreen top rail

I've found because some modern made seals are the wrong profile that you can get leak or weeps past the seal so have adopted a little quick routine to avoid this, it also means I don't have to have the catches so tight I can't undone them when it's colder but I still want to drop the top

if you want more details of this email me and I'll send you a one page Word.doc of the notes

It should sit outside the lip. Mine doesn't at the edges unles I poke it there...so if I'm heading into rain that means I need all the sealing I can get I release one catch at a time and poke the seal into place on that side (then relatch and do the other side).

I think its called "character" :-(
