MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Source For Clutch Slave Cylinders (1500)
Anyone have any tips on decent supplier of clutch slave cylinders? I only changed it last year but its leaking out the front into the bellhousing, as its such a pig of a job bleeding a new one, does anyone have any thoughts on a better source than the usual Chinese rubbish from the main suppliers? Thanks Tim |

Try powertrack brakes.(www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk) they usually have a good supply of NOS or better quality spares. |

Bob's got it in one. Paul Hunt is your man at Powertrack. |

Thanks for the recommendations, that’s a new one to me will check them out. |

Another thumbs up for Power Track Brakes: https://www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk/ See if they have new genuine 920 Engineering cylinders (was AP Caparo, AP, AP Lockheed, Lockheed Girling, Lockheed); if not they may have something acceptable as an alternative such as Delphi. David Manners and Rimmers worth a try too. David Manners if they have AP versions they put ‘AP’ at end of the Unipart part number. AP Caparo part number: 4252-401P (LL12401) Unipart: GSY107 The ones more readily and widely available online seem to be ‘County’ brand. Cheers Mike |

PS the LL12402 number is a Delphi part number. Useful cross reference on part numbers: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354126045061?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338722076&customid=&toolid=10050 Brake ENGINEERING WC1095BE BREMBO E 52 007, E52007 DELPHI LL12401 FERODO FHC6103 FIRST LINE FBA2112 PAGID 83166 SAMKO M04921 TRW PJH169 UNIPART GSY107 Cheers Mike |

Thanks all for the information, unfortunately https://www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk/ are now closed for two weeks for Summer holidays, so will have to look elsewhere. So the Delphi altrernative as per the Ebay link should be a more reliable alternative if the original Lockheed cylinders are not available? |

Tim Have you tried Steve McKie in Chesterfield? |

Tim Pity you are not in Australia: https://britishclassicspareparts.com.au/british-parts/clutch/slave-cylinder-clutch-mg-midget-1500 Cheers Mike |

Dave, a local supplier I never think of, should give them a try, thanks for the reminder. |

Tim I wonder if anyone has a Ferodo one: https://www.ferodo.co.uk/catalogue/26871/ferodo/braking/slave-cylinder--clutch/fhc6103.pd.html Cheers Mike |

I had the same problem on my 1500, cheap ebay clutch slave cylinders dont last more than 12 months. I bought a genuine (Lockheed I think) one from https://www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk/ and I havent had problems since. |

Has anyone compared the internals of a "County" brand clutch slave with, say, an AP Caparo? What is better - is it more precise machining, better seal or both? |

Some of the problems may be down to mixing imperial and metric items. e.g. body drilled to 1" (25.4mm) with metric rubbers ('cause they're cheaper)hence short life. Rob |
