MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Speedo Cable Routing
Hello everyone, due to a lack of disassembly photos, I have a speedo cable that probably shouldn't be flopping around without a clamp. 74 midget USA I have a clamp and it looks like it could hold the speed cable. Where does it attach? On the bell housing? Any particular bolt? Thanks! |

Speedo cables attach to the tail housing of the gearbox so they get the gearbox output speed into the final drive so are attached behind the main gear case. |

Hey Steven - you probably meant this clamp.

. . . . and here it is from the rear, coming from the drive in the gearbox back end, passing through the clamp, and routing nice and tight to the sump before turning up to a nice wide bend into the footwell. Good luck. PS:- Frogeye here, but the same, I'm sure. If you have an exhaust steady bracket, the clamp fits to one of those bolt fixings. |

The cable is routed differently for LHD and RHD. I don't have a later model to take a photo. Maybe someone will respond with the LHD path. |

It's lucky I'm here to make you all look intelligent. |

Thanks everyone, I forgot about this thread.....i posted it at a point where i was trying to put parts back on the car after 4 years or more. I emptied out a box of parts and saw the clamp......i haven't installed it yet, i need to finish painting and get the dash back on the car. |
