MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Splash sheilds
Two panels, referred to as splash shields in the moss catalogue. Are they welded in, rivetted, or bolted? They're between the radiator and the inner wings. The heater air intake pipe goes through one of them. Mine are sufficiently rusty that I can't tell how they fit! Ant |

Bolted to a L shaped bracket that then bolts to the inner wing |

And bolts to about 5 places on the wings ofthe radiator (well, the later cross flow one). Except for if you're me and deem these bolts irritating and worthless. Ahem. |

I have no splash shields my electrics dont drown my float chamber doesnt get vapourised fuel (yet...so far...so to speak) |

They are bolted in and require some threading through the structure to get them to fit - unless you do what I did. I tore apart my whole front end on what started as a simple engine bay cleaning job that took a few weeks. I pulled the heater box, radiator, and several ancilliary and emissions components. Mine were bent, dinged, and a bit rusty as well. I pulled them out wirebrushed and treated the rust, then repainted them. Go here: http://www.spritespot.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=Glens-72-midget&page=1 Go to page four (4) for the shields. Side note: this is a Texas-based '72; the shields also serve as air baffles to channel the air through the radiator, so I didn't leave them out. Cheers, Glen |

Ant, thy're bolted in through the inner wings (2 captive nuts) and at the front, on the passenger side by holing the expansion tank in place, by two L shaped brakets which are also likely to be rusty. I think, if memory serves me, that the radiator bolts also retain them at the front on a crossflow rad. Jeremy |
