MG Midget and Sprite Technical - Spring seat spacers
Hi. My model is 1972 1275 midget. I am refreshing my front suspension and have found that there are spacers fitted between the wishbone and spring seat. They are approx 10mm thick and the retaining bolts pass through these. These spacers are not in the moss or mgoc catalogues. Is this normal or has a previous owner fitted them? Thanks Steve |

This is an aftermarket modification to lower the suspension, either bought as a kit or done as a DIY alternative. The lowering achieved is around 2X the thickness of the spacers. |

Sounds like a previous owner has fitted spacers to lower the front ride height. A kit is available https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/spring-lowering-kit-per-car-ajj3322.html or could just be a homebrew item given it's not overly complicated to do. |

Thanks to you all for your speedy replies. I will refit them as otherwise I will need shorter bolts. |

Are you happy with the ride height - now is the time to change it if you want to - you could fit the spacers under the spring pan to utilise the same bolts and restore the original ride height. Seems a bit shortsighted just to go with what you have for the sake of 8 bolts if its not what you want..... |
